How close can I plant a tree to my house?
It is recommended that trees not be planted closer than 20 feet from the edge of the foundation.
Existing trees that are closer than this should be thoroughly soaked at least twice a week during dry periods and once a week during periods of moderate rainfall.
Some mature trees require up to 224 gallons of water per week.
Important: The presence, removal or planting of trees which are of the large variety can cause localized swelling or shrinkage of soils that can lead to foundation issues depending on the type of tree, size of tree and proximity to the foundation.
