Why is the air from the vents cool when the heat is on?

It is normal for the air at the vents to seem cooler than air from traditional heating systems, especially as it gets colder outside.

The air that a heat pump blows will maintain the thermostat set point, but the air temperature will be cooler than your body temperature making it feel cool to the touch.
